Our Story

2001

The journey began in 2001, at a time when Belgian festivals were booming but were still difficult to find online. Festivals.be started as a simple directory of links to the country’s leading festivals.

Thanks to a loyal community and a strong network of cultural websites, Festivals.be quickly became Belgium’s leading website for discovering festivals.

2006

The first interactive version of the website is launched, allowing organisers to create and manage their own festival listings. It is an immediate success, first among music festivals and soon across every cultural discipline: theatre, jazz, cinema, gastronomy, literature, circus, street arts and more.

2008

The complete festival calendar is launched, along with our Facebook and Twitter pages. Visitors can now share tips, memories, recommendations and favourite discoveries.

2012

Version 3 of the website goes live, built around a dedicated news blog featuring festival news, line-up announcements, reports, interviews, competitions and much more.

2024

In 2024, Festivals.be entered a new chapter with a completely redesigned website, enhanced features, an improved mobile experience and, above all, the launch of an English version to welcome the many international visitors eager to discover the richness of Belgium’s festival scene.

Today, Festivals.be aims to be:

  • a living festival calendar, updated every day;
  • a promotional platform for organisers;
  • a source of inspiration for festival lovers;
  • a place where festivalgoers, artists, professionals and enthusiasts can connect.
